Windward Maternal Wellness is one of those ideas that arrives one day and begins to consume all your thoughts and just won't let you leave it alone. It reminds me of the children's book by Kobi Yamada, "What Do You Do With An Idea". The story is about a boy who has an idea one day that just won't go away no matter what he does. At first he hides it and is concerned that others might make fun of it, but this doesn't feel right so he decides instead to nurture it, protect it, and let it grow. The idea helps the boy feel more alive, encourages him to think big and then one day the idea spreads it wings and takes flight. This is when the boy realizes that what you do with an idea is change the world! It's an inspiring story for children and adults alike with beautiful and imaginative illustrations by Mae Besom. My 3 year old took affinity to this book just as the idea for Windward Maternal Wellness arrived in my mind. I call that serendipitous! "What To Do With An Idea" may have entered my awareness at the exact perfect time. Over the last 6 months I have protected, nurtured, then followed my idea and it has grown and inspired me beyond measure. As I write this, Windward Maternal Wellness is just beginning to take flight, but my hope is that one day it changes the world for countless mothers in my community!
